Hine Pūkohurangi

from 120.00

Hine Pūkohurangi can be seen rising from the darkness at day break. The mist rising from the earth also symbolises the greeting of the Earth Mother to the Sky Father above. Hine Pūkohurangi lives with the Cloud Children in the open space of Tukapua. She was the wife of Ūenuku - the Rainbow.

The Moko Kauae (chin tattoo) that adorns her chin is my own, an acknowledgement to my grandmother whose name was Te Kohuroa: The long Mist.
