ART BY PAITANGI

As well as her specialty in ta moko, Paitangi is an accomplished artist in a variety of other mediums. Carving was her first love and she utilises bone and wood for this aspect of her art. Weaving is another passion. Kakahu (feather cloaks) and Kete (bags) are all completed by hand and take many months. Paitangi also uses mixed mediums of ink and paint on canvas to achieve stunning works of art imbued with meaning and are a representation of her links to the Maori spiritual world.
